Floral Ring

22K GOLD, ENAMEL, 2025

The ring draws inspiration from artefacts discovered in the tomb of Puabi (c. 2600 BCE) in ancient Ur, renowned for their exceptional form and craftsmanship. It also references jewellery from Ancient Egypt, in particular a fourteenth-century BCE gold lotus-flower brooch currently held in the Corum Museum in Turkey. Further allusions include rings from the New Kingdom period (Eighteenth–Twentieth Dynasties, c. 1400–1200 BCE) decorated with lotus motifs, which in Egyptian art symbolised rebirth and triumph over chaos and death.
