Double Knot Bangle

The bracelet was formed from thick silver wire, the ends of which intertwine around one another. Its form refers to jewellery of early medieval Scandinavian communities (eighth–eleventh centuries). In Viking culture, such bracelets and rings functioned as gifts symbolising bonds of loyalty and interdependence within the community. The motif of the twisted cord or rope conveyed unity and the durability of these relationships.
