Moon Ring

22K GOLD, MOON METEORITE BÉCHAR 007, 2024

At the centre of the ring is a fragment of a lunar meteorite that fell to Earth in the Béchar province of Algeria. The form of the object and its rotating setting refer to ancient Phoenician rings, in which movable elements allowed multiple layers of symbolism to be expressed on each side. The duality of the decorative element—a light, golden surface and a dark face containing the meteorite—further accentuates the cosmic nature of the material, evoking the phases of the Moon, while contrasts in structure and colour generate an additional visual interplay.
